SUPERIORBELLY WILL BE PERFORMING LIVE AT THE
DETROIT FRINGE FESTIVAL!! ALSO FEATURING ELLIOT
EARLS AND MANY OTHERS. APRIL 14TH , DETROIT , MI

FROM THE DETROIT FREEPRESS:
Nearly 30 hours of nonstop performances, with breakfast thrown in. That’s what Detroit’s Music Hall has planned April 13-15 with the first ever Detroit Fringe Festival.

The marathon event will feature visual artists, dancers, musicians, performance artists, films and entertainments difficult to categorize, like the re-enactment of Darwin’s theory of evolution.

Participants are coming from as far away as Barcelona, Spain; London; Melbourne, Australia; Los Angeles and New York, as well as from nearby locales like Detroit and Ann Arbor.

In more ways than one, “We’re covering a pretty wide area,” says Music Hall president and artistic director Vince Paul. Besides the main theater, performers may show up in stairwells and the mezzanine lobby.

The festival runs from 8 p.m. April 13 to 1:30 a.m. April 15. Tickets: $32. Details: www.detroitfringefestival.com

DPI EXHIBITION 2006

ZAK OSTROWSKI’S VIDEO WORK “SHAVE” WILL BE ON DISPLAY AT CAL POLY UNIVERSITY AS PART OF THE DPI (Digitally Propelled Ideas) A national juried exhibition WHICH RUNS:
September 18 thru October 21, 2006

Opening reception Oct 5th 6- 9PM

The purpose behind the exhibit “DPI,” which stands for digitally propelled ideas, is to provide a venue and bring together artists who have been actively involved in using computer technology to create works of art. We understand how digital technology has opened opportunities for research and experimentation in a number of the art and design related disciplines and our goal is to bring together the most eclectic experience possible. The exhibit will include work from the following disciplines: fine art, graphic design, illustration, photography and video.
JUROR: Elliott Earls was recently chosen “the hottest designer in America” by Blueprint magazine He is the head of Cranbrook’s graphic design department and considered a “beloved hero” and “star” in the world of art-school designers. His experimentation with nonlinear digital video, spoken word poetry, music composition and design led him to form The Apollo Program. As a performance artist, Elliott was awarded an “Emerging Artist” grant by Manhattan’s prestigious Wooster Group. He was a featured performer at the Wooster Group’s “Performing Garage” in 1999 and has performed at the Cretiel Theater Festival in France, at The Walker Art Center in Minneapolis Minnesota, at the Oak Street Theater in Portland Maine and at “HERE” in SOHO New York City. Elliott’s posters entitled “The Conversion of Saint Paul,” “Throwing Apples at the Sun,” “The Temptation of Saint Wolfgang,” and “She a Capulet” are part of the permanent collection of the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum Smithsonian Institution. Elliott’s latest enhanced CD/poster package was recently added to the Cooper Hewitt’s research file. Elliott’s type designs are distributed world wide by Emigre inc. Elliott’s commercial work includes two recent TV commercials for The Cartoon Network in the United Kingdom as well as an interactive documentary on the work of Frank Gehry for Casabella in Italy.
